What Teams and Spectators Need to Know

Sixteen teams compete in four preliminary groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals. During the group stage, two singles matches are played, with draws being possible. Each match is played to 40 points with no inning limit. A five-minute break is taken after a player scores 20 points.

Players are allocated 40 seconds to execute their shot, with an acoustic warning given after 30 seconds. The shot clock starts once all balls have come to a complete stop.

Each player is allowed two time-outs per match, each lasting 40 seconds, extending the shot time to a total of 80 seconds.

In the event of a draw after the two singles matches in the group stage, each team is awarded one match point. Group rankings are determined as follows:

a) Match points
b) Average points per inning
c) Highest run

The quarterfinals are played in a single-elimination format. Here, the same regulations apply; however, in the case of a tie, the „Scotch Double“ format is used. In this mode, both players of a team compete together.

The team starting the match begins with the white ball from the starting position and decides which player takes the first shot. Thereafter, teammates alternate after every shot. Each player executes one shot at a time until the inning ends. The opposing team then plays under the same conditions.

The match concludes when one team reaches 15 points. Time regulations remain unchanged.
