A warm welcome to the World Billiards Championship, welcome to Viersen!

For the 35th time, the city of Viersen is hosting the supreme discipline of carom billiards, the Three-Cushion World Championship, here in the Festhalle.

This is a first for me as mayor, but for billiards officials, teams from 16 nations with their families, staff, and the audience, it is already a tradition of which Viersen is truly proud.

While the world’s elite billiards artists ensure exciting games at the tables with precision, technique, and strategy, sponsors and supporters, as well as many helping hands in the background, contribute to making this outstanding event a special and unique highlight every year. 

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the German Billiards Union for the excellent, reliable, and professional organisation of this tournament, which is broadcast live around the world.

Together with all of you, I am looking forward to the coming days and what is sure to be another extraordinary atmosphere in the Festhalle Viersen.
